James Gray has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fish & Wildlife Management from Arkansas Tech University.

His accomplishments include 35 years of federal government service, 1 year with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 34 years with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and 30 years at Wolf Creek NFH.
